The night before

whummmmmm I had an unexpected small farewell party from some friends whom I've met sort of casually while just playing basketball.. Really sweet of them to bring me to Applebees for dinner even though most of the time we just play basketball together.

Let's see what's new.. preparation for departure will almost be complete, a friend who couldn't made it for my farewell party will send me off the airport + her entrage of Taiwanese friends whom i've barely know. She said that'll be compensation enough GeeZzzzzzzz I', never good at farewell.

Parted with a lot of computer games CD and movie DVD,,yup the giving has begun, can't afford to take all of them back.

Guess even in my second last day ..I'm still on duty, spend some quality time talking to my previous programming partner (who is doing her phd now in New mexico in Astrophysics) room mate delicia about this strange phenomena calledl ove that can destroy or build wonders. ... an enigma it seriously is.. only time knows its value and true wonders.

Farewell PArtYy

Hic) Hiak Hiak (hic)....errRrRrRrrrrr 2 much Bourbon+whiskey+ premium budweiser lager (not those cheap foul mouth bad tasting bud-light) coupled with Thai food and a tinge of Melot...oh don't forget the vodka and Bacardi 2. With a huge class that can fill up the volume of 4 bottles of beer (yup it's a huge glass) where I got to drink the whole thing...ughhh never wanto do that again.. I'll prefer whiskey and wine any day than close to a litre of premium beer...but since it was my farewell party..no escape for meee.....
whumm more people turned up than I've expected (yup even a few gate/party crashers)....from a nice dinner at a Restaurant we went back to the apt and started drinking to a mob of people sleeping all over the apt floor with wallmart plastic bag strap on their collar like babies napkins.. yup my house policy.. drink..can... puke...can... just puke outside and not inthe house or in the wallmart plastic back which I've handed out with my apt mates to everyone who came...or else gwen will have my head for she's a carpet freak ShHhhhHh.h.....she still doesn't admit it.

It was bitter sweet ,but mostly sweet..the last time we have a party of this magnitude (25++) with music, games and of course drinking was close to a year ago when the previous MSO(Malaysian student org) president left.. one of my friends actually broke down and cry half-way..his excuse was when Daryan goes..so goes the drinking and house alchohol party custom of MSO (He claimed I'm one of the few MSO heavy weights that can drink and enjoy it..unlike the newer officers).....

Among party crashers was my ex-gf whom I haven't seen for ages..(yup the one who you know did what to me back then) but it seems has recently broke up with the person who caused it.. (Hic) anyway doesn't concern me I'm leaving LExington in less than 72 hours......

But the best of all was Lady 'D'.. (just think felicia with a D) whom we all thought was in LA but managed to pop by in Lexington Kentucky to see me..(well of course I wan't the only reason but when people purposely arranged their schedule earlier or later just to attend my farewell..it's sort of gives you or rather me an ozzy feeling inside)..same with another friend whom supposedly is supposed to be working in Tennessee.

Another good thing is when people who normally don't drink alchohol drank for the first time of one of their few seldom timess for me....they turned really red and were incapitated already......basically the whole night went well stopping when all the alchohol finish just roughly before the sun came up..by then most people were on the floor mumbling something..I myself weren't feeling too good too...but at least it wasn't that bad compared to the last party where me and Lady D' was shoving each other and fighting for the toilet bowl to throw up..ahh fond nostalgic memories...lots of alchohol humor but will talk later....

reALLY Really LAte Delayed BLog

Ok I know it's been almost a week since I've blogged so I'm going to give you peple all Very Extremely LONGgGGgg Blogg.
Cause Related events that lead to this ultra delayed BLoggGgg (and I feel bad since i still see people checking my blog site on a daily basis. "SoRRyYyy" ) are :

1) I was travelling for 4 days starting on Saturday till Tuesday, went to Cincinnati, Columbus ,Louisville and Indianapollis. Nothing much really to see there but just places to visit and looked at the various architecture and memorials (Indianapolis has ton of civil war museums and monuments).

2) My apt doesn't have internet(Alltel on strike and were changing subscriber) and will remain so till I'm back home at the motherland or 3 weeks from now. (I've been gone 5 days without checking my mail,,, yes the pain is excruciating but nevertheless me and my apt mates survived by munching on Oreos and playing computer games (ohh too bad for those playing MMORPG (online computer games)).

3) The nearest apt with internet is 2 blocks away and with the scorching heat of 90-100 farenheight (30-35 celsius) isn't really much of an encourager

4) Been busy packing ,really busy packing, just sent back a few more boxes via SEA(Snail) mail that cost me a total of 50 buckss...Ahghhgh wallet burningg....

5)I've actually tried to Blog yesterday but the Blogger was undergoing an Upgrade and the site was down..I was like NOoooooooOooooooooooooooo AHGhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhgHGh WhYYY WhYYyYYyyy!! (my friends thought I either broke up with a gf or miss the lottery by a digit!!)

6) The commenting script that uses an external server "Blinky.com" is also down till now and is still under maintenance.

7)Been preparing for 2 farewell party back to back today and tomororw that will follow a nice dinner at a Chinese and Thai restaurant follow by the usual "Let's drown ourselves in alchohol session".... eRrRrRrrrr...Whummmm.. looks like I can't escape the "heat" of the drinking session since I'm the "main actor" in these parties now!

Ok Since I'll be going away for good or an extremely long time in Lexington , I wrote and dedicated this poem to a special friend whom will be having her b-day 5 months from now:

A year wiser,
Yet still as nice as ever,
With Cheerful and Happy Thoughts,
There's nothing you can't sought,

A year more graceful,
With countless wonders awaiting,
Which in turn got me thinking,

That you're blooming like a Rose,
Only without the thorns,
And that's something to boast!!
So to you I'll have a Toast!!
Happy 22nd B'Day!!

She in turn wrote me a short poem about missing me even before I leave..so touching
:

Dear Daryan,

On this cold winter evening,
I sit alone in my room,
Thinking of you.
I reminisce on the fun we had,
The last time we met.
I hope to see you again soon.

Missing you,

Yup I left out the names since It's kind of personal, but I guess if oyu're in Lexington it's not a secret at all Hahahahahahahahahahahaha

Since blinky commenting session is down if you have any coments please e-mail me at
DARYAN_X@HOTMAIL.COM

Whummmm mwil lbe scanning pics from chicago ad bombing e-mails again...ughghghghgh partystarting in 3 hours time got to get back and prepare the plce, the place (apt) looks worse than a junk pile since al my stuff is all over the place(don't worry no dirty laundry or undergarment hanging around.. I have ladies leaving inthe apt too you know!!)

Bye byeeee

Too much to Blog, Too little time

Well well, Yes I've been doing a lot. A lot to Blog and talk about but no outlet to talk since I don't have internet and it will remain that way till I get back to the "Motherland". First;y, my electrical shaver has died on me after 8 years!! wow wwwww but still saddened, I've got a sentimental value on it. So now is back to the BLade for me. Been packing my stuff and I've think I've thrown and given away so many Junk (not junk previously but now junk since I've thrown or given them away) and will ship back by BOAT the rest of my stuff. It's a wonder how I've accumulated so MANY Junk over the past years.
I've thrown boxes of CD covers after transferring all of them to 3 CD wallets (yup this includes DVD, music CD's and computer Cd's), tons and tons of envelopes and mails. Yes I've really appreciate all the traditional pen and paper mails. I REALLY doo honestly but I Can't just afford to take them back, too expensive. But I read them all over once again before I've recycle them (it sounds better than discarding), Some of the lines were really sentimental and helped me alot during my trying ordeals here in Lexington. I've had mail from Australia, Japan,England, US and especially in the "motherland". You people are the Best and you know who you people ARE ^_^.
Will be going to Cincinnati,Indianopolis,Columbus and Jacksonville across 2 States Ohio and Indianna and this will probably be my last road trip. These roadtriaps are really touch and go roadtriaps compared to my other major ones like the ones to Chicago or Atlanta because in these cities there are basically nothing much to do. But oh Well since I'll be leaving this part of the States maybe for good, thien it times to visit the neighbouring big cities.
Checks time whummm 8.00 pm, Checks whether Gwen has finished cooking, nope. Continues writing blog. Gwn wnated me to take back for her this megabig PHoto album that rivals mine back to the motherland, but me being overpacked already can't accomodate anything else (since I've fulled up half the thrash Dump(The big one outside not the inside one)
gwen: makan!!!
oops ok got to go byweee

That's It!!!

OK today at Apt 6, Gazette Avenue, LExington , KEntucky, USA. Me and my roomies decided that since ALLteLL(our broadband service provider) is still on strike (for who knows how long over a health insurance reduction) and we don't have internet now for almost 2 weeks!!! (most of us survive by going to the next block to check mail or to the Uni's computerlab), we have decided to say Good Bye to ALltEll and get Satelite broadband!!!!! Yeah you heard me. Unfortunately it will take close to two weeks to activate the account and install both the hardware and software again (not to mention we still need the software for the wireless LAN in the apt from a good REALLY good friend who is not in the states right now). Well that's one issue.

The next issue is (takes a sip of wine, Chardonnay)..some mussings and ramblings from an It grad "
Eventhough we may know that were over rated than our actual potential , but that is how the world works even in the working life,.. it's not how good we actually perform but how we perform in the eyes of other people..even when we goof and fall short they will attribute it to situational or circumstantial factors rather than our inaptness of abilities, unless of course it's a major blunder.
"

Ahh politcs politics

DelayEd BLogGgGs

MAy the court Rise, the plaintiff case states thar Mr.Daryan Toh AKA ShadowLight has forgot or delayed his blogs for almost 3 Entries. How do you plead Mr.D?

NOT Guilty!!

Ok enough for the fictional court case, GeeShhhh I didn't know people (and you know who you are) actually send e-mails to remind me to blog..

so here I'am at my own representation to defend myself from the chargest brought upon me.
1) My apt has no internet. What's worse ALLTEL the BroadBand internet service provider is on strike!!
2) My nose is still Running AhHh Summer pollens in the air..ohh Look Firefliess !!
3) Been in a mad frenzy of finishing as many computer games I can before I go back! YEs to da Motherland
4) Still suffering from "Zero" gravity symptomps after spending the whole day in another theme park,
6 flags.
5) Apt mates not helping much by playing PS2 whole day and plotting to infiltrate and take over the ALLTELL Lexington
HQ here and reconnect our own internet connections ourselves. Heck we have an Electrical engineer, Computer
science and several IT grads in the apt.

I've decided not too write about the Malaysian US Dilemma, it will just take too bloody long !!will tell you in real life if you ask nyuk nyuk nyuk

aHHH choooOooOOO

aHHH choooOooOOO aHHH choooOooOOO aHHH choooOooOOO (SNEEzE sNNEzE sNEEZE)
"tAKE cOVER!!! dARYAN Got SARS!! RUN!!" Shouts my apt mate in a feeble attempt to escape my UNCONTAGIOUS ALLERGY TRIGGERED SINUS!!.
"AGHhghHHg too laTE" my apt mate wiggles on the carpet and pretend to look like a dog dying from either an epileptic feat from an already spastic person or mad dog with the Rabbis diesase at its final stages.

Sometimes the way people act (Yes my apt mate is a GRADUATE in Areospace engineering) makes me wonder whether our education system (The whole World) has seriously gone down the drain.

A while later while my apt mate was talking to my other apt mate.
"Heyy you know what I heard the apt shook 3 times like an earthquake 10.0 on the Rictor Scale" 1st apt mate
"Yes felt it too all the way in the Research lab (The Uni research lab is a mile away)" said 2nd apt mate.

AhHhhh wonders of Summers, it won't shock me if tomorrow they'll be making fun of each other pimples or or facial hairs.
Clear symptoms of the 1st state of the Malaysian US dilemma.
Ahhh remind me to write more about that later.
Now time to write e-mails.
p/s I've recently comeplted MEdal of Honour both the game and the expansion pack, Diablo 2 and its expansion pack and also Jedi Knight 2 all in 2 and a half week.
Will be starting medieval total war today// Ahh Finally catching up in all my long awaited computer games that have been pilling up from the lfoor to the roof ever since I've came to the States. (Yes i'm a good boy)

Whumm I think my cooking skill has improved and its time to take my dishes to the next level!
Well not as good or even comparable to the famous food cooking competition "Iron Chef" But good enough for me :).

Gonna go to a disco tomorrow, sunday go to Kentucky 6 flag themepark. Yes more roller coasters for me !! I'm a roller coaster junkie. But it deffinitely won't be as fun as PAramounts King's Island.

That's it for today. Ciao

More melancholy

ByeeEE ByeeEEeeee, BYee BYEE!! Yup my friends are going home to Malaysia for good. Thank you so much for 9/11 and Terrorism. For them the American Dream is Crush for say almost forever. Gone were the golden years of 4 years ago or before where even a moderate foreign student can get an American job and proceed to get a Green card after working for 5 years.
For my case and batch (even the batch before me for 2 years) This isn't so, the situation is getting worse actually. I remember my senior telling me this when I arrived in the States almost 2 and a half years ago "The eonomy is now Shit, hopefully by the time you graduate it wil lbe much better compared to us".
Yah right !! It gotten worse,,..far worse than anyone could've imagined. So I tell the same thing to the new Malaysians who came last semester and the ones before as one of the few Malaysian community leader in Lexington, with one exception, that it will be REALLY better when they graduate.

Cars in US is not a luxury , it is a necessity compared to most Asians country.

Whummm will talk about the dillemma later again since I'm using another friends apt to blog.

AgGHgHGH NO Internet

Ok Ok first things first, NO INTERNET. Thank you thank you so much for spilling coffee on our Wireless SERVER!!!!!(it's actually a PC) so now the whole APT 6 don't have internet AGVGHGHGHGHGhgGHgHGhgHGHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Why don't we just change server? surEEeEEe If somebody didn't lend the software to somebody who went for a holiday!!!. Oh welll..anyway.

I went jungle tracking to a LAke named Cave trail lake 2 hours from Lexington,Kentucky by car and track on foot by another 3 hours then. Our leader Dr.Koh (Recent Phd graduate in chemical engineering said) "You guys will love this place it's fantastic , I tell you there'll be nobody there and it looks like nobody been there for ages". 3 hours later our rag-tag bunch of hikers that includes 2 american, 1 swiss, 1 jap and 3 Malaysians arrived at the shore of the Lake only to be greeted by heavy metal music and a bunch of high school kids running AMOK in and out of the lake.

"Yes Dr.Koh untouch and well preserve where nobody know" said I with a snicker.
Dr.Koh replied (ShEsSs not used to calling him Dr) "Yes as a matter of fact it was untouched then not now"

AIhHhhh Doctors.

BUmmer and Musssings

Whumm I've deffinitely been blogging inconsistently, Im having like multiple entries per day and sometimes skip a day or two..sigh. I've been plagued by the MAlaysians student dilemma in the States again. Please people give me a BREAK!! I've been through this debates here in LExington, back in Malaysia during Summer and with other Malaysian friends from 5 different states and all the time is the same OLD problem and arguments with the SAME OLD FACTS. Accept facts people.
Will write more about this later. But I got more pressing problems at hand !!

Whummm I got a good friend whose Bf is an American and she's ashames to show or tell the rest of us? Whumm WHY? Should ask her that.
I wonder I got friends whom are MAlaysians and have married Americans both boys and girls. SighHhHhhh there's more than meets the eyes but the politics runs deeper than my writing.

Well on the lighter side I'm going Jungle tracking south at Lexington at a place named Cave Creek...woooo I remember a time when I love the forest and camp there for days to weeks end. AHhhhhhHHhhhhhhhhh even though it was good old wet hot and itchy Malaysian rain forest.!!
Will be going there with 2 Malaysians phd student and a Japanese friend ^_^. Jealous?

HaihhHh this Malaysia dilemma is still bugging me, I guess to completely understand you got to be studying in US with a MAlaysian community of more than 5 .

Whummmm I Wonder

Flashback to Chicago.
My first USA speeding Warning.
It was back then during my road trip to Chicago, I was driving, the life of 6 other guys were in my hands. Whummm Terrible terrible responsibility especially when we rented a SUV with a V6 engine that could go as fast as a Mitsubishi Eclipse if not fasTER!!>
Ahhh the time 8.am in the morning, the rest are sleeping. My mind still fresh from the morning aftershave.
I've only been 2 hours on the road and I got 3 more to go.
Whummm straight road, state Indiana.
"Let's see What's this baby can do Guys' said I.
The Rest "Zzzzzzzzz Zzzzzzzz I want my mommy (snore)Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

WRUMmmmmmmmmMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm (please note speed limit is only 60 miles per hour and I was double it already fora duration of 2-3 minutes and when I was just about to slow down I heard a (gulp) you got it right.
A police Siren!

Suddently a scene from 2 fast and 2 Furious cross my mind. I have the engine , I have the skill, butthe thought of coming out in America's Wilderst road chase with the song "Bad Boys Bad Boys watcha gonna do when They come for you" Completely and Utterly put me off.

So I pulled over and the officer game with a typical central accent "Hey boy whatcha doing speeding at double the speed limit, this ain't no game Son, driver license and registration please" . I handed it over and he say Ahhh Kentucky, punch it in his mobile ccomputer palm pilot. "First offence for that you get a Speeding warning, but if it up to me Boy you'll be lock up in County Jail".

Then he left and I was "Yahh right" Oh well should have did the High speed chase,
suprisingly everyone else was still Zzzzzzzingg. Weird.

The Bumming have Begun

OKK this is the starting of my 4th week since I've graduated, AT current I feel like a Bump, well naturally since I'm officially Bumming around while waiting for a Uni to accept my MASTER degree application.
So what constitures Bumming?
1) Waking up only when you're hungry like 12pm-2pm (depending how lazy I feel)
2) Stare at the TV just for the sake of staring it. Excerpt from today , Avan says "Yo Daryan whats the movie
about?" me: "Huhh it's a movie?"
3) Surfing the net and watching all the previews of movies that are soon to be released
4)Hang out with the guys while drinking Vodka and trying to fit the Cat some of it.
5)Playing computer games (the same game) OVer and Over again just for kicks

Should I go on and spare you the agony?

MuhauhauhauahauahauauahHahaha Estactic

p/s I was notified today that I am awarded a departmental honor for the IT dept in my uni

Priceless

Yesterday at Paramount's King Island, me and my friends sat more than 10 rides and all of them were high speed, adreanaline RUSH roller coasters. Two of them are the Traveller channels top 2 roller coaster in the world!!! 1) The Son of the Beast, the worlds tallest (218 feet) and fastest roller coaster (90mph), 2) The Beast, the World's longest (as in length not in time) in the world!!!!!!!!!! and don't forget the rEST of the other roller coaster 8 in all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! plus Free-fall drop zone and the Delirium where your strap only on your waist with your hands and legs dangling and they rock you on a pendulum up to a 125 degrees to one side to the other (so total around 250 degrees) while your sit spins a 360 degrees!!!
The outcome PRICELESS, good place to see your best friends scream like your little 4 year old sister (whumm sounds familiar) and distinguish between the all talk no action cowards and the silent heroes. LEt's just say I took the delirum and dropzone twice and also the Vortex twice. The vortex is a double loop and double cockscrew continous roller coaster. Scared lerR??

Hahahaahahahaha I've never seen so many of my friends so scared in their LIFE!!!! one actually turned pale and tried to chicken out the last minute!!

Muahuahauhauahauahauhauahauahaaa We sat so many high speed adrenaline rush rides from morning till 10.00 pm, by the time it was after dinner, O gravity (free fall) and Multiple G's (gravity) is like our body second nature. Yes we got tired from riding roller coasters.

p/s A friend commented that roller-coaster designers, design the roller coaster to make our heart-rate idnetical as the hear-rate of having sex.
He read it in Times Magazine a while back. No wonder roller-coasters are so fun and addictive (no pun untended ^_^ )
|

Monday, June 02, 2003

Just got back from Cincinnati , Ohio.
PAramount's King island. LEt's just say me and my friends ride the roller coasters so much that we were tired of riding it. Not to dowgrade them or anything but this theme park has world class rollercoasters with the Traveller channels top 2 roller coaster in the world.

Will write me later, now got to Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..
